IMPORTANT NOTICE OVERHEAD POWER LINES
Restricted Towpath Angling
Tow path angling has had to be restricted in the Edmonton to Enfield Lock area.
There are now three zones:- no fishing, restricted angling (maximum length for rod/poles of 8 metres*) and clear zones. Note * all unusable sections to be packed away in butt section, tube or holdall.
BW and the National Grid have erected signs where no and limited fishing applies and your season/day permit carries the same warning. You are only allowed to fish if you observe these regulations. BW, National Grid and the LAC have given sufficient warning.
There are also low cables on wooden poles for example Cheshunt/Aqueduct Lock where no fishing applies.
Your bailiffs have been instructed not to sell day tickets where anglers are not observing the restricted areas and they will request all anglers including members to move to another peg.
In 2007, the risk assessments were carried out by BW and National Grid in line with the Angling & Overhead Power Lines working group and their work on the Lee navigation was ratified by NAFAC (now Angling Trust).

OVERHEAD PYLONS
After many site meetings and many miles walked between Enfield and Tottenham an agreement was reached which will, at least, see fishing approved and continue on the Lee Navigation, by our landlord British Waterways. There are now three types of fishing zones between Enfield and the Lee Park Way bridge just above the A406 (Edmonton). As far as BW was concerned they disallowed fishing along much of this length several years ago. The officers we worked with this time around were not aware of any agreements we had to continue fishing until risk assessments had been carried out. We have never condoned any fishing within 30 metres of cables crossing the river but this part of the Navigation has cables crossing, hanging over and running parallel with the tow path. The Lee is unique in that no other river is affected in this way. So BW have now erected warning signs for two of the three zones, namely:- No Fishing and fishing limited to 8 metres poles. The areas where there is no limits up to the usual 16 metre pole are not signed. Each pound of the river downstream of Enfield Lock interchanges according to the individually risk assessed cables. Some fishing has been lost for ever but in certain cases these restrictions apply to areas hardly ever fished because of poor access.
As responsible anglers you must observe the above restrictions

The Lee Anglers' Consortium licences the Lee Navigation from British Waterways. Fishing is along the towing path starting in the north at Hertford 'Folly Bridge' downstream to and including the west bank of Feildes Weir. This stretch also includes a short length of the R.Stort to Lower Lock. The LAC fishing then recommences at Aqueduct Lock, Cheshunt to the end of the Lee Navigation at Bow Lock. This southern end also includes the City Mill River.
