DETAILED MATCH & CATCH REPORTS

Unfortunately very few matches are held on the Lee Navigation these days. Basically this is because it is difficult to find a stretch of water where there are sufficient productive pegs to provide a fair match. With other rivers showing signs of improvement we are still hopeful that the Lee can return some way to its former glory days.

Lee Anglers' Consortium OAP and Disabled Anglers on the Lee Navigation.

Once again there was a good turn out especially as the Navigation was showing no form. 62 anglers took part and I believe they were happy top be there to see their old mates rather than the promise of a bag of fish. Top weight was Alf Churchill, Edmonton & Tottenham AS with five bream for 20.02.00 taken on maggot feeder opposite the boom. Second place went to John Barrett (Ed & Tott) with 4.10.00 of small fish and third was Alan Radcliffe (Cormorant Abbotts AS) with 1.08.00. Only 32 anglers weighed just 37 lbs.  I would like to thank the various sponsors of the match, namely the Environment Agency,  British Waterways, J&B Tackle Edmonton and Abbey Tackle, Waltham Cross. In addition the Royal Small Arms AS who hosted the match in their club headquarters and especially B for preparing the packed lunches distributed along the bank during the day. I must then thank the stewards without whom the match could not take place. So thanks to Jim Fowler, Tom Rowley , John Carter, Ron Oliver, Allen Sprake and my wife, Pat.

Lee Anglers' Consortium OAP and Disabled Anglers on the Lee Navigation.

We had a great turn out for this match despite the river being in poor form before the match particularly as the stretch was gin clear and covered in floating dead weed. First I would like to thank the various sponsors of the match,  the Environment Agency, J&B Tackle Edmonton and Abbey Tackle, Waltham Cross. In addition the Royal Small Arms AS who hosted the match in their club headquarters and especially B for preparing the packed lunches distributed along the bank during the day. I must then thank the stewards without whom the match could not take place. So thanks to Jim Fowler, Tom Rowley and his friend, John Carter, Ron Oliver, Allen Sprake and my wife, Pat .73 anglers took part in a very hard match with a total weight of just 27 lbs.Top was Brian Thurley (RSA) with 3.13.00 which included the best fish, a perch of 2.07.00, 2nd Stan Phillips 2.06.08 (Ware AC) and third Charlie Palmer (Tottenham) with 1.13.00 Section winners were Mick Baker, Ron Oliver, Allen Sprake, Dave Fussell and Geoff Bright.
